Wagstaff Piling was contracted by Camillo Builders to construct the retention system and foundation piles for the redevelopment of The London site in Port Melbourne. Wagstaff Piling constructed the CFA foundation piles of up to 900mm diameter to a depth of 36m using Wagstaff Piling’s Llamada P-240TT CFA rig. Wagstaff Piling also constructed a 500mm thick diaphragm wall for the perimeter of the basement using a Casagrande rig and grab supported by a Kobelco TK750FS crane. The project was particularly challenging as a result of the limited access site conditions for large piling equipment, the ground conditions given the location of the site so close to Port Philip Bay and the depth of the basement. The project also required the extraction by Wagstaff Piling of the old timber piles at the site.
