Driven Tubular Steel Piles

Wagstaff Piling was contracted by Albem to construct the driven tubular steel piles with reinforced concrete shaft for Bridge 6 at the Smithfield Bypass project. The project principal was Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads. Wagstaff Piling’s works included the handling, pitching and driving of 1200mm diameter steel tubes to depths of up to 22m. This was the first project in Australia for Wagstaff Piling’s new Junttan MPX90 piling rig which is capable of handling, pitching and driving piles with hammer configurations of 10t,12t, 14t and 16t. The MPX90 has since been used successfully on other Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads projects.
